Panels 2.0 Beta 1 released!
Posted by Merlin on Mon Dec 31, 2007 4:58 pm.At long last I have finally put an end to this alpha business. I think 14 releases of it was really enough. Don't you?
Not surprisingly, I'm a little tired. Here are the release notes.
What exactly is the Drupal Association
Posted by Merlin on Mon Dec 31, 2007 10:54 am.Recently it's come up that some members of the community don't actually understand the Drupal Association, or what it does, or even who it is. I think there are probably several reasons for this void of knowledge, including the fact that Association meetings happen largely behind closed doors, and that we in the Association don't do a great job communicating what is actually happening behind those doors at this time. I hope to help fill in some knowledge gaps and set some people straight on what the Association is, who the Association is, and what the Association does.
How to enact change in an open source project
Posted by Merlin on Sun Dec 30, 2007 11:08 am.Step 1: Abuse your administrative privileges to post a discussion in a place reserved for announcements and marketing material.
Step 2: Actively insult most of the primary contributors to the project.
Step 3: Use misinformation to back up your salient points.
Step 4: Refuse to stop using this misinformation after you get called on it.
Step 5: Insist that "how things are" is different from how things are.
Step 6: Insist that you're saying something different from what you're saying. Ignore it when people call you on it.
Merry Christmas!
Posted by Merlin on Mon Dec 24, 2007 12:03 pm.I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas! For those many of you who do not celebrate Christmas, every religion or nation I can think of has a holiday somewhere in the vicinity (and most of them are already) past. To those of you, I hope your holiday went well!
A new demo for Panels and Nodequeue
Posted by Merlin on Thu Dec 13, 2007 5:30 pm.I've updated the demo site I've been setting up for nodequeue so that you can login as a demo user. This lets you play with the Panels UI and the Nodequeue UI and sort of look behind the scenes to see how a fairly simple site can be set up with these tools. The site isn't anything flashy, and I do need to do a better job (ok, a job) of documenting what I did, but even without it a lot can be divined.
