I’d call this Day 4, because to me it is, but DrupalCon was only really 3 days. The day has been quite relaxed; many folks have left, and many of the ones that are around are beyond my ability to find them. I think they’re doing various things at Moosecamp/Northern Voices which is a blogging conference/hacking get together, but I’m not sure what rooms things are going on in. I’ve gotten to see a couple of people here and there, at least, and I’m typing up these blog entries in relative silence sitting next to hunmonk who is very absorbed doing some kind of actual work.
Some of the highlights of this trip include meeting a lot of very interesting people from all over the world. Adrian flew in all the way from South Africa — a 27 hour flight — and others flew in from Belgium, Germany, Hungary, all over the USA, the other coast of Canada, and probably places I’m not even sure about. There may or may not have been one member from Australia somewhere, I wasn’t quite clear on that one.
A great time was had in terms of just kicking back and relaxing, and a few places had very good beer. Getting some quality time to talk about software direction with CCK/Workflows/Actions/FormsAPI was very valuable to me, though it also feels like a relatively heavy burden to have put myself in that position without anyone actually paying me for the work, especially if it comes to doing something that may end up being complex such as RDF.
The list of people I’ve met and enjoyed interacting with is long and absolutely impossible for me to remember. Suffice to go with the list I started on Day 1, and expand it some but I’m not going to try to put down any more names, lest my head explode with the effort. The buzzword site on scratch.drupal.org/buzz contains a memorable quote or two. Photos can be seen on flickr using the ‘OSCMS’ keyword, and also the ‘opencmssummit’ keyword.
In particular, in day 2’s entry I meant to link this photo of the line of geeks but I forgot to put it in that post, so it’s in this one.
There should be more, but my memory is now failing me. I’ve got about half an hour before I must get up, do a couple of errands, then retrieve my luggage and call for a taxi and head toward home. Maybe I’ll grab another Tim Horton’s along the way, just to have a donut. An angry donut. Eh.
