Amazing!
So this is decided on the views configuration, ok.
What happens when the view is placed inside a panel pane, it's a views panel layout, inside a panel pane, inside a panel layout?
My head just exploded...
Yep. That's no weirder than
Yep. That's no weirder than putting Mini Panels in a Panel though.
Beautiful!
Wow, this is huge! Being able to do this at the views level opens up so many doors. Now for Skinr integration... I wonder how that will work?... If we can apply skins to the regions for these panel panes we would be in good shape. Forgive me for not testing just yet, but are the styles editable for those panes at that level? I assume not, but it would be something nice to see and test.
Thanks for posting about this new feature and including screenshots!
No, currently styles are
No, currently styles are disabled as it's doing a pretty stripped down render so that you can get the simplest UI possible.
One possibility is that you can put skinr classes into the layout itself, since the flexible layout lets you put classes at all levels. That's a start; there's not a lot of UI to it, just typing classes, but it's a start.
Maybe for skinr integration all we really need is an alter function or two so that skinr can add some options to the style and alter the content on render to wrap the regions with skinr classes.
No more views theming to lay out rows
Thank you. This is really exciting. It looks like the number of views.tpl files I have to have to lay views rows out satisfactorily is now a problem I'll never have to worry about again.
Wooooop indeed.
Dead on about replacing Node Displays!
@Ryan: Good point... don't see the need for Display Suite now...
Wow.
Node Displays be damned...? Now this exists for Views, then Panels Everywhere is like the Dark Lord's tower in Lord of the Rings - "one rendering engine to rule them all".
Men = Nodes
Elves = Views
Dwarves = Blocks?
None are safe from the awesome power of the panel...?
