Thanks very much to the hard work of Sam Boyer, we have managed to release an alpha version of Panels 2 for Drupal 6! Yes, it's finally here!

There are a series of known issues which you can find in the release notes so I wouldn't say this is 'ready' but it's ready for people to start fiddling with, at least. We're to the point where developers can start generating patches to fix stuff, too.

thanks

Thank you guys, you are fantastic. I was shocked when Sam told me on drapalcon that Panels will be available probably next week.

I hope I will have the time to learn the great chaos library :)

Congrats!

This is wonderful. Thank you! I'm going to post something about this on tomgeller.com right after it relaunches later this week (and on gellerguides.com before then).

This is actually my first experience with Panels, and already it's clear how useful it will be. So thanks again.

Nice one!

Nice work Sam and Merlin, downloading now to give it a test spin...

Just a couple of quick questions on Panels 6.x

Hi there,

I use views everyday and it is, in my view the best module in drupal :-)

I'm currently building a site which should be out in 2 months. I'm using Drupal 5 only because 6 does not have (stable, feature complete) panels. Given that the alpha is out...does it make sense for me to develop my site on Panels- alpha1 / dev versions and have the bugs get ironed out as my development proceeds?

In short, what is the release road map appproximately. Any idea when the alpha2 might release?

Would really appreciate your answers on any of the above questions.

Thanks,

Sidharth
