In this issue in the Views' issue queue:
How can I fail to understand you haven't even bothered to give a good
reason against? Duh. Oh and this isn't /your/ issue queue; you don't
/own/ Views (and this issue isn't even assigned to anyone anyway).
(Yes, that's to me).
I already told the guy I wasn't responding to him anymore.
So hm. Ok, so Views is licensed under the GPL. The GPL means that you have the right to copy, distribute and modify my software, as long as you adhere to the very minor restrictions in the GPL. But it doesn't require me to relinquish ownership of my software. I wrote it. I do own it.
Somebody, please. Set the guy straight for me?

How rude...
He simply takes for granted how much effort you take to improve this great module. You have seen how he doesn't make sense. Simply ignore these kinds of people who think they know what they are talking about. Jeff Eaton's explanation shut him up.
That's a real cracker!
Congrats - you got your own very troll :P
Man, I'm waiting to see this guys 'own' Views module...
Sorry & Thanks
Sorry you have to deal with idiots like this - I know this is not the first time.
For each idiot there are 1,000s of people like me who thank you for all you have done for Drupal. Views is absolutely fantastic. Thanks Earl.
Stay focused!
It's hard for me not to rally for the banning of these morons on d.o.
I think the best choice is just to ignore them.
But it's so much fun to chew
But it's so much fun to chew them out for their stupidity! =) FYI, he's been banned.
Perspective
I've come across a lot of this type of thing recently, both as a code maintainer who doesn't have time to give full explanations to every lack of understanding, and as an interested contributor/participant to other people's open source projects. There's a feeling amongst users/testers/bug reporters (ie everyone who isn't writing the bulk of the code) that they do hold a stake in the success of the project, and I think that's healthy. Unfortunately, it's too easy as a maintainer to give short thrift to people who are trying to get involved with a project but don't have the same depth of understanding of the way the code works as the maintainer (which is understandable). On reading the linked thread, I'd say that #4 was the place where comments escalated to unpleasantness, and I'd like to see the person involved reinstated to drupal.org (with the caveat of being unable to look at their previous contributions to see if they were generally abusive, as the account is closed...).
Trolls
There's almost nothing one can do about trolls, if they're savvy enough, they'll find a way around being banned. Just go with the old saying: Don't feed the trolls...easier said than done.
Sorry & Thanks (2)
I´m sorry too about that idiotic troll.
It´s not about [just] the GPL licensing here, it´s about the person who "created" a module that made Drupal *truly* flexible. How can he say that kind of stuff?
Please don´t bother to answer to guys like those. Instead of that, think about the BIG MAJORITY of us that REALLY apprecciate your efforts.
Thanks for your daily efforts to help the community grow stronger!!
