Ok, I finally found some time and finished the last remaining piece of the puzzle. The first version of the Update Status module is now deployed. The output has changed a bit from what I posted last time.

drupal.org is ready to take your queries.

And your Drupal 5 site is ready to query.

Important note:

1) Official releases only. This thing can't deal with dev releases or updates from CVS.
2) I'm announcing this here to get the people who read the planet to participate in some testing and make sure it's actually working. In a few days I'll post an announcement on drupal.org too, but I want to wait a bit. I think it's working pretty well but I'm feeling paranoid about this one.

This is great, will

This is great, will definitely try it out. Thanks.

That works a treat!

Nice stuff. It worked smoothly for me on my test site. Thanks for taking the time to hammer this one out Earl.

another great module

thanks again for the great work.

I tested it on several sites and it seemed to work fine

Very willing guinea pig

Man this is greater than sliced bread. The dev-release watch would be nice (I assume that info is just not available from the project module), but this still cuts down a whole lot of huntin' around as is.

Very Nice

I hope you know what a lifesaver this is. Installed, works just like it said on the tin, things are going to get a whole lot easier now. Thanks.

Works like a charm ...

... at least as far as I can tell so far. I've installed it on 6 sites that all have tons of modules. This is great. Manging all the modules can obviously be quite time consuming if you have lots of them. As for looking for DEV versions, it would be nice, but I think it should be an option. On my production sites I usually don't use DEV versions, while on DEV sites we a little more freedom to experiment.

Thanks a great module!
