As a followup to yesterday's article about the new UI, this is a call for contributors.
Specifically:
- We could use someone versed in CSS to help make the new UI look acceptable in Bartik and additionally it'd be nice if the 'base' version was at least usable in Stark. We're using a system where we can bring in stylesheets for specific things, so what we really want to do is provide some kind of basis for theme developers so that they can help tune the Views UI to their theme if they expect people to do administration in it.
- Because the UI has changed significantly, a lot of the advanced help documentation is very out of date. We need some rewriting done here.

Are you looking to put CSS in Views to make it work with Bartik? Or CSS in Bartik? Is this for when Bartik is an admin theme? Or for when Bartik is the front-facing theme on a site?
In Views to make it work
In Views to make it work with Bartik. And when Bartik is used as an admin theme. Or, as is the case right now, when Views is made available to non-admins but administer site content isn't, so it decides to not use the admin theme.
Mostly it's that the CSS we have has never really been looked at outside of Seven and there's some basic...adjustments we need to make to re-align stuff because the core effort wasn't really looking at it outside of Seven.

Google Summer of Code Project?
Earl,
I've used Views on just about every Drupal site I've created (and that's a lot) and I want to give back. I am going to be submitting a Google Summer of Code Proposal, and I would like to focus on improving Views. You know what is needed better than anyone else, so could you contact me with some things that need improving so that I can get to work on a proposal? I have lots of CSS experience as well as jQuery, so if you think that improving the UI would be a good project, let me know. Thanks and as always, great work on Views!
Sincerely,
Leighton Whiting
give back
Hello,
I am a web designer and a xhtml css expert having made my first unobtrusive css portal in year 2001. I have intermediate knowledge of drupal and I use views since 3 years now. I like it because it fits my personal approach with recombinance, modularity, etc.. I am currently developing my second website in Drupal 7, having put the first one on line one month ago (http://www.senzamoneta.it). I am specially interested in displaying admin functionalities on the front-end. If I can be of some help, I'll be glad to put some of my time on it.
have a good day
